Other Vegetarian Benefits There are many benefits to being a vegetarian. Vegetarians are much healthier than meat eaters. Vegetarians actually live seven years longer than meat eaters and vegans ( those who don't eat meat and animal products) live fifteen years longer than meat eaters. Also, vegetarians and vegans have the lowest risks of cancer, heart attacks, and other diseases. If you become a vegetarian, you are 40% less likely to die of cancer and 20% less likely to die of other diseases! Vegans are even less likely than vegetarians to die of diseases or cancer. Cardiovascular disease is killing a lot of people. However, you can reduce your chances of getting Cardiovascular disease by becoming a vegetarian. As a vegetarian, you reduce your chances of Cardiovascular disease by 35%! If you are a vegan, you reduce your chances by 46%! You will reduce your cholesterol levels by 14%, as well as not eating toxic chemicals. 25% of chicken carries salmonella bacteria, and 30% of pigs are infected with toxoplasmosis, which is caused by parasites. 72% of grain is used to feed farm animals. We would not have famine if we ate this grain, instead of giving it to the animals. If you are a vegetarian, you won't get sick so much. Vegetables have disease-fighting phytochemicals, to help you not get sick so much, and when you do, you will get better quickly. Sadly, twenty-two million animals are killed every day to feed us! This is a huge amount! If we stopped eating meat even just one day a week, some animals would be saved.
Vegetarians also tend to be slimmer than meat eaters, and their bones last longer. Most meat eaters eat too much protein. This ruins their bones, and they don't last very long. Vegetarians bones last longer, because they don't eat too much protein. Vegetarians eat enough protein, but not to much. Red meat is has a lot to do with cancer. Even if you just stopped eating red meat, you would lower your chances of getting cancer. Besides being healthier, you can also save money by being a vegetarian. Meat costs more than vegetables, and so if you are a vegetarian, according to the Vegetarian Times, you save on average $4,000 a year! The answer is obvious. Being a vegetarian has so many benefits over being a meat eater. Just not eating meat one day a week will help to save Earth, and make you so much healthier.
